Martin Luther King High School

Addition on Active Campus

The exterior skin on the 76,673 SF addition to MLK Jr. High School is almost exclusively glass. These expansive windows allow natural light to pour in and fill the classrooms, which in turn has been linked with improved performance and lower energy costs. The ninth-grade classroom wing and learning commons addition was added to the front of the existing 20-year-old high school to provide a more unique and personalized educational experience. Working in tandem with the daily needs of the students, the new addition was constructed during the school year to provide a new entry to the high school. Student life remained uninterrupted while the improvements were ongoing.
